Shahjalal Airport's third terminal to open on December 16: Minister

The government plans to launch the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 16. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita said preparations for the terminal's opening are in their final stages.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of the Bangladesh Aviation Tourism Journalists Association (BATJA) at the Secretariat on Tuesday, May 12.

The new terminal will improve passenger service quality and speed up immigration, luggage handling and boarding processes, significantly increasing international passenger handling capacity, the minister said.

She also said steps are being taken to expand the aircraft fleet considering passenger demand and international route expansion. The government plans to lease at least five aircraft within this year.

State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat also informed about plans to add new aircraft to the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet.
