Despite being out of the national team for a long time, world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is not staying away from politics. In a recent online interview, he expressed his strong desire to return to active politics and contest elections in the future.

In an interview with BD Crickettime hosted by Zahid Chowdhury on Wednesday (January 14), Shakib said, "Yes, why not contest elections? I will contest again. I have no doubts about it. InshaAllah, I will contest elections from my birthplace, Magura."

Shakib contested the 12th National Parliament election in 2024 as an Awami League nominated candidate from Magura-1 constituency and was elected as a member of parliament with 185,000 votes. However, his term ended after the government fell and parliament was dissolved following the mass uprising in August.

Although Shakib is out of the country at this time, several cases have been filed against him and he has also faced public outrage. Still, he has no plans to leave politics and his strong stance in recent interviews has proven it.

Analysts believe that Shakib's political ambitions, despite the uncertainty and legal complications of his cricket career, could be a bold step to secure his political future. However, there are doubts in the public mind about how much his plan will be implemented in the current administrative and political situation.
