Shamima Parveen first female SP of Dhaka

For the first time in the history of Dhaka district, Shamima Parveen has been appointed as a female Superintendent of Police (SP). The Home Ministry announced her appointment in a notification on Thursday (April 30).

According to the notification, Shamima Parveen, currently serving as AIG (Education, Sports and Culture) at the Police Headquarters, has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Dhaka district.

In the same order, the current SP Md. Mizanur Rahman has been transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). In addition, there have been reshuffles in the posts of Superintendent of Police in several other districts.

Shamima Parveen, a resident of Narail district, joined the Bangladesh Police on August 21, 2006, as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) through the 25th BCS. She has held various important positions in her career.

She has also served as the Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Police Association. She has also worked as a coordinator of women police members from 22 countries at the international level and has served as the Central and South Asian Coordinator of the International Association of Women Police.

During her academic career, she studied at Jahangirnagar University and was also involved in student politics during her student life.

Those concerned hope that the law and order situation in the district will be further strengthened under her leadership by taking charge as the new SP of Dhaka.
