Shaon and Saba released, handed over to family

Actresses Meher Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba have been released after extensive interrogation. They were given into the custody of their respective families at 4 pm on Friday. DMP spokesperson Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said that the two were brought to the DB office for questioning on charges of anti-state conspiracy. After the interrogation, Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba were given into the custody of their respective families from the DB office.

Shaon's name came up among those who were present live and virtually at the meeting held at Hotel Park in Kolkata on January 15. After that, she was kept under detective surveillance.

After that, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police took the actress into their custody on charges of anti-state conspiracy around 7 pm on Thursday.

She was taken directly to the DB office on Minto Road in a microbus from her home in Dhanmondi in the capital.

Earlier that evening, local students and the public set fire to the actress's house near Narundi Railway in Jamalpur.

Then, around 12:30 pm on Friday, Sohana Saba was arrested from the capital's Dhanmondi area and taken to the DB office on Minto Road.

According to DB sources, actress Sohana Saba was under surveillance after Shaon. She is accused of conspiring against the country.

Actress Sohana Saba was an active member of the WhatsApp group 'Alo Asbei' of pro-Awami League artists.
