Sheikh Hasina is responsible for Begum Zia's illness: Rizvi
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has blamed ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Begum Khaleda Zia's illness.
He made the comments at a doa mahfil organized by the Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal in the capital's Nayapaltan on Wednesday (December 3). A special prayer was held at the event to seek quick recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Rizvi said: "Anyone who has never compromised on their country, people, independence and sovereignty will always have love for her. I can see the manifestation of that love."
He also said that Begum Zia has accepted various difficult decisions in the past for the sake of the country. In February 1996, she formed the government and ensured a caretaker system so that no one's life was lost.
Rizvi said that those who had demanded a caretaker government through violence in the past have abolished that system after coming to power.
He said: "Sheikh Hasina has run the country according to her own wishes without trusting the people."
The BNP leader claimed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also responsible for Begum Zia's current physical condition.
Rizvi urged the interim government not to do anything that would cause hardship to the people, saying, "Work in the public interest."
