Sheikh hasina will face legal process, not ‘mob’, if she returns to the country: Zahed Ur Rahman
Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has remarked that if former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted from power through mass uprising, returns to the country, she will have to face justice and legal process. He has said, “The one we want (Sheikh Hasina), if she comes we are happy. We did not have to catch and bind her to bring her. If she comes she will face trial. She is a death sentence convicted accused. After coming whatever will happen in the legal process, that will happen.”
Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has said these things in reply to questions of journalists at a press conference organised at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has given assurance that if she returns to the country there will be no kind of illegal attack on Sheikh Hasina. He has said that if she returns to the country she will face justice, she will not be the victim of any ‘mob’ or illegal situation. She did not do justice with us, but we will reply by ensuring justice. Let her come, we welcome her.
Dismissing the possibility of Sheikh Hasina’s return to the country, Dr Zahed has said that after remaining discussed for six months she will say in December that she could not come for these reasons, will come next June. We will again do the same discussion for six months. Then not in June but next December... it will continue like this.
Pulling the context of Sheikh Hasina’s leaving the country he has said that the way a dacoit flees, her fleeing is somewhat like that. At this time mentioning the context of Hussain Muhammad Ershad after the mass uprising of the nineties he has said that Ershad also did not flee. After the nineties Ershad was in the country with his cabinet, stayed in jail himself and by contesting elections his party also won 35-36 seats. After Ershad’s fall the police were also in the thana.
Contextually, since being ousted from power through the July 2024 mass uprising, Sheikh Hasina, president of the banned Awami League, has been staying in India.
