Shoeb Chowdhury appointed president of Rowing Federation
The National Sports Council (NSC) has appointed tech entrepreneur, writer, and sports organizer Shoeb Chowdhury as the president of the Bangladesh Rowing Federation. Concurrently, the previous ad-hoc committee of the federation has been dissolved, and a new 24-member ad-hoc committee led by him has been approved.
This decision was announced in an official directive issued by the NSC on Saturday (July 18).
According to the notification, the new committee has been formed as the previous ad-hoc committee failed to complete the elections and hand over responsibilities within the stipulated time in accordance with the constitution.
Sports organizer and industrialist Mohammad Sarfuddin Ali has become the general secretary of the new committee. The vice presidents include Khurshid Alam, Additional IGP Md. Moniruzzaman, Dr. SMA Aziz Russell, and former national athlete Sheikh Jahangir. Md. Russell and Jahangir Kabir Jon have been made joint secretaries, while Al Amin Chowdhury has been given the responsibility of treasurer.
The NSC stated that representatives from various sectors, including businessmen, law enforcement officials, physicians, and former athletes, have been included in the new committee, which will ensure strong and balanced leadership for the federation's activities.
Newly appointed President Shoeb Chowdhury said that his main objectives are to further strengthen the administrative and organizational structure of the federation and to conduct the next general election with transparency.
