Shohag Transport counter comes under attack in Malibagh

A clash broke out at the Sohag Transport counter in the capital’s Malibagh area late Wednesday night over a smoking incident, leaving several staff members injured.

The attack occurred around 11:30 pm when two youths were reportedly smoking in front of the counter. Staff members asked them to move elsewhere, which led to an argument. Shortly afterward, the youths returned with several others and launched an attack, vandalising glass panels and furniture at the counter. Panic spread in the area as bystanders rushed to safety.

According to Sohag Transport authorities, several employees were injured in the assault, including one who sustained stab wounds. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have yet to confirm any arrests in connection with the incident.
