Shops, shopping malls to remain open until 10pm from May 12

The government has allowed shops, shopping malls and retail outlets across the country to remain open until 10:00pm from May 12 in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The extended business hours to remain in effect until the festival.

Helal Uddin, president of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, confirmed this information on Thursday (May 7).

He said, "The association had sought permission to keep shops open until 11:00pm instead of the usual 7:00pm to facilitate Eid shopping and ensure smooth business operations. However, authorities approved operating hours until 10:00pm."

Leaders of the association said the extended hours are expected to ease crowd pressure in markets during the Eid season, allowing customers to shop more comfortably while also giving traders additional time to boost sales.
