Six arrested in killing of speech-impaired elderly at Narsingdi railway station
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested six suspects over the killing of speech-impaired elderly woman Bobi Begum, who was brutally assaulted and robbed at Methikanda Railway Station in Narsingdi.
In a statement issued on Friday (July 10), RAB's Legal and Media Wing confirmed the arrests but did not immediately disclose the identities of those detained.
The elite force said further details of the operation and the investigation will be revealed at a press briefing later today at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar, where RAB-11 Commander Lt Col Mohammad Masud Parvez is scheduled to address journalists.
According to investigators, Bobi Begum had worked as a cleaner at Methikanda Railway Station for nearly 25 years.
On the night of July 4, a group of assailants allegedly entered an abandoned room at the station, assaulted her and fled with around Tk 40,000—her long-saved earnings.
The incident drew nationwide attention after details of the attack spread widely on social media. Bobi later died from her injuries, triggering public outrage and demands for swift justice.
