A high-level committee formed by the Ministry of Health has submitted its investigation report into the deaths of six children in the post-operative ward of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in the capital within a three-hour window.

The three-member committee submitted the report on Wednesday, June 3. Another committee formed by the Directorate General of Health Services is scheduled to submit its report on Thursday, June 4. Ad-Din Hospital's own investigation committee had already submitted its report on Tuesday.

The six newborn deaths occurred in the early hours of May 27. Following the incident, a relative of one deceased child filed a case with Ramna Police Station. Senior officials from police, the health ministry and the city corporation subsequently visited the hospital. The health minister expressed anger after discovering various irregularities.

The health ministry's three-member committee was initially given three days to investigate the causes of death and recommend actions, but failed to meet the deadline and requested an extension until June 3.

Earlier, the hospital authorities had attempted to release their findings through a press conference but later withdrew the decision. On the same day, a joint operation by Dhaka South City Corporation and the DGHS fined Ad-Din Hospital Tk 3 lakh.
