Six more children die with measles symptoms, total deaths reach 708

Six more children have died from measles symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, though no deaths from confirmed measles were recorded during this period, according to the latest measles situation report published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday afternoon, June 27.

According to the health directorate's data, 615 children have died from suspected measles symptoms since March 15, while 93 children have died from confirmed measles. Combined, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 708.

In the last 24 hours, 45 children were confirmed to have measles through laboratory tests, while 744 received treatment for suspected measles symptoms. A total of 789 children were affected by measles or suspected symptoms in the past day.

Since March 15, a total of 98,266 suspected measles patients have been identified across the country, of which 11,594 have been confirmed through tests.

During this period, 81,955 patients have been hospitalised, with 78,287 having recovered and returned home.

The DGHS has urged parents to ensure children receive vaccines on schedule and to seek medical advice immediately if fever, rash or measles symptoms appear.
