Six more children die with measles symptoms, total deaths reach 973
The Directorate General of Health Services has reported that the measles situation in the country continues to deteriorate. Six more children have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. According to the calculation of the Directorate General of Health Services, the number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles symptoms from March 15 to August 31 has stood at 973.
This information was given in a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday (August 31). According to the information of the press release, 1,162 suspected measles patients have been detected in the country in the last one day. And the total number of suspected measles patients from March 15 to August 31 has stood at 1,57,991.
The number of people infected with confirmed measles during this period is also not small. Confirmed measles has been detected in 94 people newly in the last 24 hours. The number of confirmed measles patients in the country from March 15 to August 31 has stood at 19,312.
Information of the Directorate General of Health Services says 1,38,445 people have been admitted to various hospitals of the country with suspected measles from March 15 to August 31. Of them 1,33,400 have returned home after recovery following treatment.
A worrying picture is also being found in the statistics of deaths. Six people have died with suspected measles in the last 24 hours. With this the number of deaths from suspected measles from March 15 to August 31 has increased to 874. On the other hand, no patient infected with confirmed measles has died in the last one day. However the number of confirmed measles-related deaths during the same period is 99.
That is, according to the calculation of the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 973 people have died combining confirmed measles and suspected measles from March 15 to August 31. As a large number of patients have been admitted to hospital during the same period the necessity of further strengthening surveillance and treatment system for measles control has come to the fore.
