Six more deaths from dengue in a day, nearly 2,000 admitted to hospital

The outbreak of dengue is continuing in the country. Six more people have died after being infected with the mosquito-borne disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of deaths from dengue this year has risen to 245. In the same period, 1,948 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals.

These information have been given in the regular report on dengue of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (September 30). According to the information of the report, a total of 79,620 people have been admitted to various hospitals of the country after being infected with dengue so far this year.

Among the patients admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, the highest 343 are from Chattogram division. Besides, 212 have been admitted in Barishal, 320 in Dhaka division (outside city corporations), 189 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 210 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 248 in Khulna, 110 in Mymensingh, 211 in Rajshahi, 99 in Rangpur and 14 in Sylhet division.

The Directorate General of Health Services has informed that 73,890 of those admitted to hospitals after being infected with dengue so far this year have recovered and received discharge certificates. Among them, 1,882 have received discharge certificates from hospitals in the last 24 hours alone.

Along with new patient admissions and deaths, a large number of patients are recovering and leaving hospitals every day. However, with nearly 2,000 patients being admitted to hospitals in a day, the pressure on the health sector is continuing over the ongoing dengue infection situation.

With the number of deaths from dengue reaching 245 this year, the need for intensifying awareness and preventive activities to control the spread of this mosquito-borne disease has increased further.
