Six more deaths with measles symptoms in 24 hours

Six more people have died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours in the country. In the same period, 1,393 people have been newly admitted to hospitals with measles and measles symptoms. With this, 102 people have died of confirmed measles and 1,032 with measles symptoms this year. Altogether, the number of deaths from measles and its symptoms has stood at 1,034.

This information has been given in the regular health bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Tuesday (October 6). It said that two people each died with measles symptoms in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and two more in two other divisions from 8am on Monday to the next 24 hours.

In the same period, 1,393 new patients have been admitted to various hospitals of the country with measles and measles symptoms. Among them, 568 have been admitted in Dhaka division, 273 in Chattogram, 164 in Sylhet, 123 in Barishal, 111 in Khulna, 85 in Mymensingh, 27 in Rajshahi and 42 in Rangpur.

According to the information of the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 1,76,516 patients have been admitted to various hospitals of the country with measles symptoms from March 15 of the current year to now. Among them, 1,69,290 have left the hospital after taking treatment.

On the other hand, the number of suspected measles patients in the country from March 15 has stood at 1,99,013. Among them, 21,910 have been confirmed as measles infected in tests.

Concern has been created over the situation as the numbers of measles infection and hospital admissions and deaths with symptoms have been continuously increasing in the statistics of the Directorate General of Health Services.
