SK Sur Chowdhury's wife and daughter's bail suspended
The Appellate Division has suspended the anticipatory bail of former Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Sitanshu Kumar (SK) Sur Chowdhury's wife Suparna Sur Chowdhury and daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury in a case filed for not submitting the asset declaration within the stipulated time.
The Appellate Division headed by Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam gave the order on Monday (February 24).
Barristers AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Mizanur Rahman heard the case in the court. Advocate Asif Hossain heard the case for the ACC.
Earlier, on February 9, the High Court granted anticipatory bail to former Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Sitanshu Kumar (SK) Sur Chowdhury's wife Suparna Sur Chowdhury and daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury in a case filed for not submitting the asset declaration within the stipulated time.
Justice Muhammad Mahbub-ul Islam and Justice Md. The High Court bench of Justice Hamidur Rahman gave this order. Later, an application was filed in the Appellate Division seeking a stay of this order.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against SK Sur Chowdhury, his wife Suparna Sur Chowdhury and daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury for not submitting their asset declarations by the stipulated date of December 22, 2024.
ACC Deputy Director Md. Akhtarul Islam said that charges have been filed against the accused under Section 26 (2) of the ACC Act 2004 for not submitting their asset declarations. Earlier, in August 2022, the ACC wrote to banks and financial institutions seeking information on all types of transactions of this family.
