Social media claim about 'police carrying minister's shoes' baseless: Police

Bangladesh Police has dismissed as false, baseless and imaginary the social media campaign with the headline 'Police pulling minister's shoes'.

The clarification was provided in a post on Bangladesh Police's verified Facebook page on Thursday, August 13.

Police said the Home Minister had offered Juma prayers at Baharchhara Jame Masjid under Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station on August 7, and the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station also prayed at the same mosque.

According to police, the OC took off his shoes before entering the mosque and went inside. After prayers, he carried his shoes in his hand as he came out. At the time, the Home Minister's shoes were placed at the entrance of the mosque.

Bangladesh Police claimed that the propaganda that the OC was carrying the minister's shoes is motivated and has no basis in reality.

Police said such misinformation is being spread on social media with the intention of undermining Bangladesh Police, describing it as highly regrettable and undesirable.

Bangladesh Police has urged everyone to refrain from spreading such false propaganda.
