SP temporarily suspended after dope test positive

Superintendent of Police (TR) AFM Nizam Uddin of Police Headquarters has been temporarily suspended after his dope test came back positive for benzodiazepines and amphetamine/methamphetamine. The order was issued in a notification signed by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Monjur Morshed Chowdhury on Monday. The notification was signed on September 10.

It stated that Superintendent of Police AFM Nizam Uddin is currently attached to the office of the Rangpur Range DIG. He left Police Headquarters to participate in the DSCSC-2026 course held at Mirpur Cantonment on January 8 this year.

When he fell ill during the course on June 7, he was sent to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. On the advice of specialist doctors, his dope test was conducted as part of necessary examinations. The test found Urine Benzo Diazepines (BZO) and Amphetamine/Methamphetamine Positive.

The order stated that this dope test result is contrary to the discipline of the DSCSC course. Under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, it is a punishable offence as misconduct. Therefore, under the rules of the same regulations, Superintendent of Police AFM Nizam Uddin has been temporarily suspended from government service from August 31.

The order further stated that during temporary suspension, he will receive subsistence allowance as per the rules. The order, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.
