Newly elected Speaker of the 13th National Parliament, Bir Muktijoddha Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram), and Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal have paid tribute to the martyred freedom fighters of the Great Liberation War. They placed wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar around 10:15 am on Friday, March 13, expressing deep respect for the martyrs. After offering tributes, they observed a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs. They later signed the visitors' book at the memorial. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are scheduled to later pay respects at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদের নবনির্বাচিত স্পিকার বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা মেজর (অব.) হাফিজ উদ্দিন আহমেদ (বীর বিক্রম) এবং ডেপুটি স্পিকার ব্যারিস্টার কায়সার কামাল মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়েছেন। শুক্রবার, ১৩ মার্চ সকাল ১০:১৫টার দিকে তারা সাভারের জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধে পুষ্পমাল্য অর্পণ করে শহীদদের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জানান। শ্রদ্ধা নিবেদন শেষে তারা শহীদদের স্মৃতিতে এক মিনিট নীরবতা পালন করেন। পরে স্মৃতিসৌধের ভিজিটরস বইতে স্বাক্ষরও করেন। পরবর্তীতে স্পিকার ও ডেপুটি স্পিকার শহীদ রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়াউর রহমান এবং প্রয়াত বিএনপি চেয়ারপার্সন বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার কবরেও শ্রদ্ধা জানানোর জন্য শের-ই-বাংলা নগরের দিকে যাওয়ার কর্মসূচি রয়েছে।
