Speaker forms 5-member committee to probe 'looting' in parliament procurement
The Speaker has formed a five-member high-powered investigation committee to verify media reports of irregularities in the procurement of goods and services at the National Parliament. The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.
The information was provided in a press release signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, Director of the Public Relations Branch of the Parliament Secretariat, on Tuesday, April 21.
The release said the report published on April 19 under the headline 'Looting in Parliament Procurement' came to the attention of the highest authority of parliament, leading to the decision to investigate.
Whip A B M Ashraf Uddin Nizam has been made convener of the committee. The members are Lutfullahil Majed, Md Saiful Alam, Hummam Kader Chowdhury and Md Abul Hasnat. The committee has been instructed to conduct an on-the-spot investigation and submit its report within the stipulated time.
