Speaker’s wife Dilara Hafiz passes away in Singapore

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafizuddin Ahmed's wife Dilara Hafiz has passed away while undergoing treatment in Singapore. She was 78 years old.

She died at 11:29am (Bangladesh time) on Saturday (March 28) at Singapore General Hospital, confirmed by BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan.

Her body is scheduled to be brought back to Bangladesh on Sunday evening.

The first funeral prayer will be held at 11:00am on Monday at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad, followed by a second prayer at the central mosque of the military cantonment. She will then be laid to rest at Banani Military Graveyard.

Dilara Hafiz had been battling illness for a long time and was receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. She was air-ambulanced to Singapore on Eid day, where she was on life support until her passing.

She is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, and grandchildren, leaving behind numerous admirers and well-wishers.
