Special prayers held nationwide for Khaleda Zia’s recovery
Special prayers were held across mosques in the country on Friday, December 5, seeking recovery of critically ill BNP chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is currently under intensive care at the hospital CCU.
After Jummah prayers, BNP organised doa mahfils at various mosques nationwide. Senior leaders, including secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, attended a doa mahfil at a mosque in Naya Paltan.
Addressing the gathering, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Begum Zia fought her entire life for the restoration of democracy. Her physical complications began in custody, and due to prolonged lack of proper medical care, she is severely ill today.”
He also said that an air ambulance sent from Qatar is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, Saturday. Based on doctors’ advice, preparations are being taken to fly her to London on Sunday. However, he stated that the final decision on whether Khaleda Zia is medically fit to fly will be taken solely by the attending physicians.
