The results of the SSC and equivalent examination answer-script rescrutiny for this year have been proposed for publication on September 10 by the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee. If the Ministry of Education approves the proposal, the results will be published on that date.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, disclosed the information on Thursday (August 20).

He said a draft policy for admission to Class XI, with 10 September proposed as the tentative date for publishing the rescrutiny results, had been sent to the Ministry of Education. The date will be finalised after receiving the ministry's approval.

This year, 402,051 students applied for rescrutiny after failing to achieve their expected results in the SSC and equivalent examinations. They submitted applications to have the results of a total of 1,056,455 papers reviewed.

Of these, 231,471 papers are associated with practical examinations. Including both theoretical and practical components, a total of 1,287,926 answer scripts will therefore undergo rescrutiny.

The SSC and equivalent examination results were published on 10 August. This year's overall pass rate was 62.25 per cent, the lowest in the past 19 years. A total of 690,608 students failed the examinations.

Students were allowed to apply for rescrutiny from the day after the results were published until 17 August.
