Steps to be taken to solve ethnic minority issues: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General and Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said initiatives will be taken to identify and solve the problems faced by ethnic minority communities.

He made the remarks at a views-exchange meeting organised by the Jatiyatabadi Kshudra Jatigostho Dal at Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday, March 31.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "Indigenous people are the sons of this soil and an integral part of the country. Formation of a separate fund for the development of ethnic minorities will be considered."

He further said, "The world is becoming increasingly unstable with conflict, strife and violence. Therefore, everyone must maintain unity so that no one feels alienated."

He also informed that a plan is underway to organise an indigenous people's rally in Dhaka in September-October next year, with the prime minister in attendance.
