Storm warnings issued for eight districts
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned of gusty or squally winds accompanied by thundershowers across eight districts of the country, with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour. As a result, river ports in the affected areas have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
The forecast for inland river ports, valid until 1am on Thursday (July 23), provided this information.
According to the forecast, the districts of Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast direction, with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour. Rain or thundershowers may also occur during this time.
Meanwhile, another forecast from the Meteorological Department stated that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are likely in all divisions across the country over the next few days. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at some places.
