Storm with gusty winds upto 60 km/h likely in five regions by noon
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast gusty winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country by noon on Saturday (May 30), warning that wind speeds could reach up to 60 kilometres per hour in some areas.
In a weather advisory issued for inland river ports valid until 1:00pm, the Met Office said the regions of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal, Noakhali and Sylhet may experience temporary squally weather accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
According to the forecast, winds blowing from the west or northwest could reach speeds of 45–60 km/h, posing potential risks to river transport and outdoor activities.
In light of the forecast, the weather agency has advised river ports in the affected regions to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
Meteorologists said the unstable weather conditions may bring brief but intense spells of rainfall and thunderstorms, urging residents and river vessel operators to remain vigilant and follow official weather updates.
