Storms, rain likely for 14 districts including Dhaka tonight

The Meteorological Office has forecast thunderstorms and rain in 14 districts, including Dhaka, during the night, with gusty winds expected in several regions.

In a riverine weather bulletin issued Thursday (April 16) from 3:00pm to 1:00am, the department warned of severe weather conditions across parts of the country.

Districts including Gopalganj, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali and Cumilla may experience winds from the west or northwest at 60–80 kmph accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Local Warning Signal No. 2.

Another group of districts including Rajshahi, Pabna, Tangail, Kushtia, Faridpur and Madaripur are likely to experience winds of 45–60 kmph with rain or thunderstorms. Local Warning Signal No. 1 has been advised for river ports in these regions.

Authorities have urged caution for all inland water transport during adverse weather conditions, warning of possible disruptions due to sudden squalls and thunderstorms.
