Student Union alleges 12 irregularities in DUCSU polls
Bangladesh Students’ Union has alleged 12 major irregularities and inconsistencies in the recently held Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections.
At a press conference held at Madhur Canteen on Thursday (September 25), Meghmallar Bose, GS candidate from the Protirodh Parishad panel, outlined the allegations.
He said their participation aimed to uphold democratic ideals amid political repression, economic crisis, and social unrest, but the election was marred by fraud and bias.
According to the allegations, irregularities included signing voter lists without presence, ballot stuffing, absence of serial numbers on ballots, lack of transparency in printing and distribution, reports of duplicate ballots, OMR machine tampering, and biased administrative behavior. Other complaints included misuse of fake press passes, exclusion of proposed agents, absence of indelible ink, multiple voting by individuals, delayed counting, unauthorized presence of candidates, and lack of transparency in ballot handling.
Bose further claimed that despite repeated complaints, the administration deliberately ignored them, making the DUCSU and hall elections of 2025 “undemocratic, flawed, and deeply questionable.”
