Students advised to reach centres early as HSC exams continue as per routine: Inter-Education Board
Despite continuous rainfall, floods and waterlogging in various parts of the country, HSC and equivalent examinations will be held according to the previously announced schedule in all areas except five districts including Chattogram. The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has advised examinees to reach their examination centres with ample time and caution due to the adverse weather conditions.
This information was conveyed in a notification signed by Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, on Monday (July 13) night.
The notification stated that HSC and equivalent examinations in five districts including Chattogram will remain suspended until July 16 as per the previous decision. However, examinations under all other education boards across the country will be held according to the predetermined schedule.
The Inter-Education Board said that although demands have been raised to suspend examinations in all districts due to the flood situation in various parts of the country, this is not practical. A total of 12,70,583 students are participating in this year's HSC and equivalent examinations. If examinations are postponed repeatedly, there are concerns that students' academic careers, result publication, admission activities at universities and other higher education institutions, as well as the entire education calendar, could be disrupted.
The notification further stated that due to the common question paper system, it is also not possible to suspend examinations under all education boards considering the situation of one board.
However, if examinees' safety comes under threat due to natural disasters in any region, or if there is a risk of serious disruption to the conduct of examinations, the concerned deputy commissioner will be able to assess the situation and take necessary decisions immediately.
Students and guardians have been urged to follow the official instructions of the education boards and the Ministry of Education. At the same time, considering the rain, waterlogging and inclement weather, examinees have been advised to reach their examination centres with ample time in hand.
