Students have blocked roads in several areas of the capital, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister over the decision to hold HSC and equivalent examinations on Monday despite continuous rain, waterlogging and floods in various parts of the country.

The protests, part of a pre-announced programme, were held on Tuesday, July 14. Around 11:00 am, students began demonstrations at Uttara's BNS Centre and Science Lab intersection, chanting slogans demanding the minister's resignation.

The students alleged that examinations were held on Monday without considering the adverse weather and flood situation, causing suffering for examinees across the capital and other areas. They faced waterlogging, traffic jams and were forced to take alternative routes to reach their exam centres. Many had to leave home early but still faced difficulties reaching their centres.

The protesters also expressed anger over the minister's reported comment referring to students as 'farmed chickens'. Pre-announced programmes were also scheduled in Shahbagh, Mirpur and at the Rajshahi, Barishal, Cumilla and Chattogram education boards.

Police have been deployed in the areas to avoid any untoward situation.
