DMP has formed a three-member committee to probe the police clash with students of a private university in front of the Secretariat on January 7.
The matter was confirmed in a statement signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Police Commissioner for Media and Public Relations Talebur Rahman on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, more than a hundred students of Prime Asia University clashed with the police in front of Gate No. 1 of the Secretariat. During this, the police fired two rounds of blank fire.
It is learned that Prime Asia University students took up a position on the road in front of the National Press Club at around 2:30 pm with 9-point demands, permanent campus and resignation of the chairman of the Board of Trustees. They stayed there for about 30 minutes. Later, the aggrieved students went towards the Education Building.
Then, a four-member delegation on behalf of the students of Prime Asia University went inside the Secretariat to meet the Education Advisor. They were scheduled to meet the education advisor in the afternoon. At that time, more than a hundred students were waiting outside.
At one point, the waiting students got into an argument with the police. At that time, the police dispersed them by charging them with batons to control the situation. They fired two rounds of blank bullets to control the situation.
