Students, senior citizens to get 25% discount on all trains: Railway Minister

The government has decided to provide 25 percent fare discount on all types of trains, including metrorail, for students, specially-abled people and those aged 65 and above.

Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Bridges and Railways Sheikh Rabiul Alam told reporters on Tuesday (March 3).

The minister said that physically challenged people, passengers aged 65 and above and students will get 25 percent fare discount on intercity trains and metrorail.

However, students will have to show their identity cards to get the discount. In the case of others, they will have to show the relevant identity cards, he said.

Sheikh Rabiul Alam said that efforts are being made to implement this decision before Eid. Although time is short, he expressed hope that it will be confirmed and implemented before Eid al-Adha.
