Students to get new textbooks during annual exams: Education minister

Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon has expressed hope that new textbooks for the next academic year will be handed over to students during their annual examinations in December.

"The honourable prime minister has instructed us to be ready with the new textbooks by November 30," he said.

Speaking to journalists after a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, July 6, to review the progress of textbook publication, the minister said, "We want textbooks to reach students on time at the start of the new year. We hope to deliver the books to students during their final examinations in December."

The tender process for textbook printing is ongoing, the minister said. "We will issue work orders within the first week of August. Then they will start printing," he added.

"We have teams from the ministry and NCTB to monitor the process. We are fully prepared to deliver the books properly in the coming days," he said.

The minister also said some revisions will be made to the curriculum for the next academic year.
