Students to get Tk 10 lakh loan for studying abroad
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed that students aspiring to study abroad be provided with loans of up to Tk 10 lakh as bank guarantee or bank solvency support, Expatriates' Welfare State Minister Nurul Haque Nur has said.
He disclosed this after a meeting with the Prime Minister on Tuesday, March 24.
Nurul Haque Nur said a meeting was held at 11:00 am at the Prime Minister's Office with the Minister, State Minister, Prime Minister's Adviser Secretary, Foreign Secretary and senior officials of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, chaired by the Prime Minister. Follow-up discussions on action plans were held. As part of this, under the Prime Minister's initiative and directive, students going to countries such as Korea, Japan, China and Germany will be provided with loans of Tk 10 lakh as bank guarantee or bank solvency support. The Expatriates' Welfare Bank will be dedicated to providing these loans.
He further said that due to the war situation in the Middle East, many Bangladeshi workers are there. The meeting discussed the crisis and its impact. The importance of reconstruction work for damaged infrastructure was highlighted. It is hoped that the country's labour market will not be severely affected; rather, demand may increase further. The Prime Minister emphasised learning a third language. He noted that those who do not know a language take low-paying jobs, while those with language skills can secure better-paying positions.
