Students to monitor polythene ban: Adviser

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that students will monitor the implementation of the decision to ban polythene across the country.

She said this at a seminar on alternatives to polythene shopping bags at the Department of Environment at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday (September 29).

The students will monitor the implementation of polythene ban in superstores from October 1, she said, adding that the list of schools has been made and orientation of students of those schools will be held on Monday (September 30).

The adviser also said that the Secretariat is planning to make one-time plastic free by December. Importance will be given to jute industry to bring back good days.

Earlier on September 24, the adviser said the operation against polythene will start from October 1 in supershops and in kitchen markets and polythene production factories from November 1.
