Sufia Kamal, Jahanara Imam remembered at Liberation War Museum

A special event was held at the Liberation War Museum in the capital on Friday to remember poet Begum Sufia Kamal and Jahanara Imam, the mother of a martyr, for their extraordinary contributions to Bangladesh's liberation struggle, women's awakening and humanitarian values.

The programme, held at the museum's auditorium, highlighted the lives, struggles, ideals and contributions of these two remarkable women for the new generation.

A special commemorative presentation titled 'Their Saga of Struggle' was performed through a blend of poetry, music, dance and biographical narratives. Cultural performances were also presented as a mark of respect.

The audience sang Rabindra Sangeet 'Amar Mukti Aloy Aloy', 'Aaji Bangladesher Hridoy Hote' and the mass song 'Jonatar Sangram Cholbei'. Additionally, through readings from their works, recitations and various cultural performances, their contributions to the Liberation War, women's awakening and the establishment of a humane society were highlighted.

In her welcome speech, Liberation War Museum Trustee Sara Zaker said Begum Sufia Kamal and Jahanara Imam are inseparably linked with the history of Bangladesh. Their contributions to preserving the history of the Liberation War, developing a secular spirit and building a humane and progressive Bangladesh are unique. Their lives and ideals will remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

Sanzida Soheli read from Sufia Kamal's works, while Suprabha Sevanti read from Jahanara Imam's writings. Recitations were performed by Tapas Haolader and Imrun Nahar Emu. Music was performed by Mahua Manjari Sunanda, Purba De Semanti, Arnab Barua and Mainur Rahman Khan. Dance was performed by Sudeshna Shayamaprabha.
