Summit LNG terminal begins gas supply to national grid

The Summit LNG terminal has increased gas supply to the national grid amid the ongoing gas crisis in the country.

The terminal began supplying approximately 110 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of regasified LNG (RLNG) at 6:10pm on Friday, August 14.

In a statement issued on Friday night, Summit LNG said it would gradually increase supply and aim to deliver up to 550 MMCFD, the terminal's maximum capacity, to the national grid by around 2am on August 15.

The additional gas supply from Summit is expected to improve availability for industries, power generation and other sectors, easing pressure on the country's energy system and positively impacting industrial and economic activities.

Summit LNG said it is working to ensure maximum gas supply safely and reliably within the technical capacity of the terminal and the national gas transmission system.

The company added that adequate and uninterrupted energy supply is crucial for Bangladesh's industrial development, employment and economic growth. Summit LNG will continue working closely with Petrobangla and the government to tackle the gas crisis and ensure the country's energy security.
