Supreme Court Judges to attend cabinet oath ceremony

Supreme Court judges will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister and the new cabinet, prompting both divisions of the court to operate only until 1:15pm on Tuesday (February 17).

The Supreme Court administration issued a notice, signed by Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui, stating that judicial activities in both divisions will conclude early to allow judges to participate in the historic event.

The oath-taking will be held at 4:00pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.

In accordance with the Constitution, President Mohammad Sahabuddin will administer the oath first to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, followed by ministers and state ministers.

The ceremony will be overseen by newly appointed Cabinet Secretary M Siraj Mia. Around 1,200 domestic and international guests are expected to witness the historic occasion.
