Tahsin, whose viral smile won hearts, meets PM

Tahsin Abdullah, the young girl who lost her smile after losing her elder sister in a tragic accident, has finally met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in person. A photo of her joyful smile at the closing ceremony of 'Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26' at the Bangladesh Army Stadium on July 27 had gone viral on social media within moments.

On Wednesday (July 29), Tahsin Abdullah, accompanied by her father Nazmul Haque, paid a courtesy call on Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary Gazi Shahriyar Pamir confirmed the matter.

In July 2025, Tahsin had lost her beloved elder sister Tasnia in the tragic crash of a fighter jet at Mile Stone School in Uttara. That day, though they were in the same school, they were in different buildings, and the jet crashed into her sister's building. Hearing the explosion, little Tahsin ran to find her sister, carrying saline and water—but that wait never ended. According to the family, Tahsin changed after the incident, and her cheerful smile seemed to have disappeared.

However, during the event on Monday, when Prime Minister Tarique Rahman came near her while walking around the field, Tahsin became overwhelmed with joy, and that moment, captured on camera, touched people's hearts. Later, upon learning the heartbreaking story behind the photo, the Prime Minister instructed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon to inquire about Tahsin and her family.

Following that, on Wednesday (July 29), Tahsin, a seventh-grade student, accompanied by her father Nazmul Haque, visited the Prime Minister's Office to pay a courtesy call. During the meeting, the Prime Minister asked about her studies and what she wanted to be in the future. Tahsin replied that she wanted to become a successful businessperson and do something beneficial for people. The Prime Minister praised her dream and advised her to continue her studies and sports with dedication. He gifted a football signed by himself to the football-loving Tahsin.

After the meeting, Tahsin said she felt like she was talking to a family member and did not feel nervous at all. She was fascinated by the replicas of cars and ships kept at the office and even took a selfie on her father's phone. She expressed excitement about returning to school to share her experience with friends.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed deep condolences to Tahsin's father for his loss in the Mile Stone accident. Several officials of the Prime Minister's Office were also present.
