Tanjin Tisha gets bail extension in Tk 28,800 fraud case

A Dhaka court has extended the bail of actress Tanjin Tisha in a case filed over alleged fraud and breach of trust involving a saree worth Tk 28,800. The court also deferred the hearing on framing charges in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin passed the order on Tuesday (September 29) following a petition by Tisha’s lawyers, her counsel Nihar Hossain Faruk confirmed.

Tisha had earlier surrendered before the court and secured bail on August 13. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana granted her bail after a hearing that day. The court had issued a summons for her appearance on July 12 after reviewing the investigation report.

The case centres on a saree obtained from online fashion page Apponia. According to the complaint, the saree was worth Tk 28,800 and Tisha had agreed to use it for promotional purposes and pay for it. The complainant alleged that she later stopped communicating with the page.

Apponia administrator Aminul Islam filed the case against Tisha on November 5, 2025, accusing her of fraud and breach of trust. Following a court order, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch investigated the allegations and submitted its report. The court subsequently issued a summons after reviewing the report.

Tisha has denied the allegations and maintained that she did not take or misappropriate the saree through fraud. After securing bail in August, she said the case contained several false claims about her and that she appeared before the court out of respect for the law.

The complainant, however, maintains that Tisha failed to fulfil her commitments regarding the saree’s promotion and payment. The charge-framing hearing, which was scheduled for Tuesday, has now been deferred to a later date.
