Tarique Rahman acquitted in DSA case
The cyber tribunal has acquitted BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Noor Alam, judge of Dhaka's Cyber Tribunal delivered the verdict without accepting the charge sheet filed by the DB Police on Sunday.
The bench assistant of the concerned court, Jewel Mia, confirmed this information to the media.
It is to be noted that on February 25, 2021, a case was filed against BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman under the Digital Security Act for declaring late president Ziaur Rahman "the nation's father of Bangladeshi nationalism". Zahidul Islam, then Chhatra League Deputy Relief and Disaster Management Secretary of Shahidullah Hall filed the case.
On December 2, 2023, Sub-Inspector Hasanuzzaman of DB Police (Cyber and Special Crime), investigation officer of the case filed a supplementary charge sheet against Tariq Rahman in the court.
