Tarique Rahman arrives in Sylhet
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet on Thursday (December 25) after traveling from London. The Biman Bangladesh Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (Flight BG-202) carrying him landed at Osmani International Airport at 9:55am.
Airport sources said the aircraft will depart Sylhet after a brief stopover and is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 11:45am.
Earlier, the flight departed London’s Heathrow Airport at 6:15pm (local time) on Wednesday. This marks Tarique Rahman’s return to Bangladesh after nearly 17 years. He is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman.
According to sources, Tarique Rahman left his London residence for the airport at 2:15pm (local time)—four hours before departure—and reached Heathrow at 4:15pm.
Members of his media and personal team traveling with him include media team chief Abu Abdullah Saleh, personal assistant Rahman Sani, and Tabassum Farhana.
Earlier on Thursday morning, BNP Media Cell Convener Professor Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel confirmed the Sylhet landing to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. He said senior BNP standing committee members welcomed Tarique Rahman in Sylhet.
After arriving in Dhaka, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Evercare Hospital to meet BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
He is also expected to address a brief roadside gathering on the July Expressway en route.
