Tarique Rahman assures to provide flats to Karail residents
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has assured to construct multi-storey buildings and provide small flats to the residents of Karail slums in the capital to provide them with dignified housing.
He said that these flats will be allocated to long-time residents of Karail through registration of their names.
He made this promise at a prayer meeting organized by the residents of Karail at T&T Colony in Banani, the capital on Tuesday (January 20). The event was organized to pray for the eternal peace of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Tarique Rahman was accompanied by his wife Dr. Jobaida Rahman at the prayer meeting.
The BNP Chairman said that BNP does politics for the people and has tried its best to keep the promises made to the people whenever the party was in charge of running the state in the past.
Highlighting future plans, Tarique Rahman said that he is aware of the housing crisis of the people of Karail and wants to implement a permanent solution to this problem step by step. He said that high and modern multi-storey buildings will be constructed in the Karail area and small-sized flats will be made for the families living there.
Tarique Rahman said that those who have been living here for a long time, especially the indigenous people and old residents, will be given a flat each through name registration. The flats will be handed over in their names, so that the people of this area have a permanent place to settle in an important city like the capital Dhaka.
Regarding education and healthcare, he said that BNP wants to work in a planned manner to ensure opportunities for education, sports and medical services for children in the Karail area. He said that BNP's goal is to provide healthcare to every household. To implement that goal, there are plans to establish clinics and hospitals in the Karail area itself.
Regarding the economic development of women, Tarique said that free education was provided for women during the BNP regime. He announced plans to launch a 'Family Card' programme to make women more financially independent in the future.
