Tarique Rahman exchange greetings with journalists in Dhaka

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman met with editors, journalists, and media representatives on Saturday (January 10) in Dhaka to exchange greetings, marking his first direct interaction with the country’s media after a long period abroad.

The event, organised by the BNP, began at 11:20am at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel in Banani.

Prominent media figures present included Dr. Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star; Matiur Rahman, editor of Daily Manabzamin; Abdul Hai Shikdar, editor of Daily Jugantor and member of BNP’s Advisory Council; Inam Ahmed, editor of The Business Standard; Tasmima Hossain, editor of Daily Ittefaq; Mahabubul Alam, director general of Bangladesh Television; Reuters correspondent Ruma Paul; former executive editor of Amader Shomoy, Ehsan Mahmud; Imtiaz Ahmed, senior reporter of The Business Standard; Ziaul Haq, editor of Jago News; and Dip Azad, chief news editor of Nagorik TV.

BNP leaders attending included Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; Standing Committee members and election management officials Nazrul Islam Khan, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice-Chairman Dr. Asaduzzaman Ripon, Joint Secretary Dr. Humayun Kabir, election committee Spokesperson Dr. Mahdi Amin, Chairman’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, advisers Ismail Zabiullah and Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim, and personal secretary A B M Abdus Sattar.

The BNP said the event was aimed at facilitating direct engagement between Tarique Rahman and editors of national newspapers, radio, television, news agencies, and online media following his long absence abroad.
