Tarique Rahman heads to Evercare Hospital from Purbachal
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman left the reception venue at Dhaka’s Purbachal 300 Feet Road on for Evercare Hospital to visit his ailing mother, BNP Chairperson and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Large crowds of party leaders and activists lined both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of him, forcing his vehicle to move slowly amid heavy congestion.
Earlier, Rahman began his address at the reception around 3:48pm. Wearing a white shirt and black trousers, he waved to supporters upon taking the stage.
Rahman arrived in Dhaka earlier in the day (December 25), landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around noon. After receiving greetings from BNP standing committee members, he left the airport at 12:36pm. Before boarding a bus, he briefly stepped barefoot on the ground and picked up a handful of soil.
Following his speech in Purbachal, he proceeded directly toward the hospital, with his convoy advancing slowly due to the dense crowd along the route.
