Tarique Rahman holds virtual meeting with Trump administration

BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman on Friday (January 16) held a virtual meeting with senior trade officials from the administration of US President Donald Trump, party sources said.

The meeting took place at 9:00am (Bangladesh time), confirmed by BNP Chairperson’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibli.

According to him, the US delegation was led by United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and included senior officials responsible for South and Central Asia affairs.

The discussion focused on Bangladesh–US bilateral trade relations, reciprocal tariff structures and avenues for future economic cooperation between the two countries.

The US side also included Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch and South and Central Asia Director Emily Ashby.

Representing the BNP, Tarique Rahman was joined by the party’s Foreign Affairs Adviser and Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir.
