BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday (December 27) paid his tribute at the graves of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sharif Osman Hadi, located beside the Dhaka University Central Mosque.

He arrived at the graves around 11:16am and left the Dhaka University area at about 11:30am after spending some time there. Tarique Rahman had departed from his residence at 10:40am.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, and other senior party leaders accompanied him during the visit.

According to BNP sources, following the grave visits, Tarique Rahman was scheduled to go to the Election Commission to complete voter registration formalities ahead of the upcoming national election. He is contesting the 13th National Parliamentary Election, slated for February 12, from the Bogura-6 constituency as a BNP candidate.

Tarique Rahman returned to the country on December 25 after 17 years abroad. On the same day, after addressing a party reception at the Purbachal 300 Feet area following his arrival at the airport, he visited Evercare Hospital to see his ailing mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

BNP officials said that after completing his work at the Election Commission, Tarique Rahman would visit his in-laws’ residence in Dhanmondi and later return to Evercare Hospital to see his mother.
