Tarique Rahman on way home

After a long wait, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is returning to the country after 17 years.

A regular commercial flight of Bangladesh Biman has taken off from London's Heathrow Airport with Tarique Rahman and his family members on their way to the motherland.

The flight left Heathrow Airport at 6:15 pm local time (12:15 am Bangladesh time) on Wednesday (December 24).

If all goes well, Tarique Rahman will set foot in the country by 12 noon on Thursday (December 25).

He is accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman.

Special arrangements have been made for their security. BNP is ready to give Tarique Rahman the biggest reception in history on the country.

The party has arranged a royal reception on December 25 to commemorate his return to the country; a big stage has been built in a 300-foot area in Purbachal of the capital.

Tarique Rahman will go directly to Purbachal after landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. BNP leaders and activists from different parts of the country have been flocking to the 300-feet highway area since Wednesday (December 24) night to catch a glimpse of the leader and witness the historic moment of his return to his homeland.

The entire area has become a huge 'festival center' with slogans, placards and the excitement of the leaders and activists.

The entire Purbachal area has been covered with a security blanket by numerous members of the police and law enforcement agencies. The party's Senior Joint Secretary General and Member Secretary of the Reception Committee, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, expressed hope that 5 million people will gather for Tarique Rahman's reception. He said, Tarique Rahman will come on December 25. We are sure that this area will turn into a great gathering and grand fair of people on that day.

BNP sources said that the party has organized a public reception at Purbachal Highway Express area in Kuril in the capital to mark the return of the acting chairman of the party. Along with leaders and activists, the general public will also participate in this public reception. Leaders and activists are working tirelessly alongside law enforcement agencies to keep the entire event orderly and safe.
