Tarique Rahman returns to his Gulshan residence
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has returned to his residence at House 196 in Gulshan after visiting his ailing mother, former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. This marks his first stay at the Gulshan residence after 17 years in exile.
The vehicle carrying Tarique Rahman reached the residence at around 8.20pm on Thursday. Security measures in and around the area had been tightened since the afternoon. Party leaders and activists welcomed him with slogans.
Earlier, at around 4.45pm, Tarique Rahman left the reception stage at the 300 Feet area in Purbachal and headed to Evercare Hospital, where he arrived at 5.50pm and met his mother.
He had departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12.35pm in a special red-and-green bus for the reception venue in Purbachal. Thousands of party activists and supporters lined both sides of the road to greet him. He reached the reception stage after about three hours and 15 minutes.
Tarique Rahman will stay at the Gulshan residence with his family. His mother’s home, Firoza, is located next to the house.
