BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is set to begin a three-day tour of the country’s northern region on Thursday, during which he will take part in a series of election programmes across several districts.

On the first day of the tour, Tarique Rahman will attend rallies in Rajshahi, Naogaon and Bogura. He is scheduled to address an election rally as the chief guest at Rajshahi’s Madrasa Maidan at 2:00pm. This will mark his return to Rajshahi after 21 years, having last visited the city in 2004 when he was serving as BNP’s senior joint secretary general.

Following the Rajshahi rally, he will proceed to Naogaon and later travel by road to Bogura, where he is expected to join a public meeting in the evening at the Altafunnesa Playground.

The tour has generated considerable enthusiasm among BNP leaders and activists in Bogura and surrounding areas, with people from various walks of life also expressing interest in seeing the party chief.

Bogura district BNP president Rezaul Karim Badsha confirmed the itinerary, saying Tarique Rahman would conduct mass outreach campaigns seeking votes for the party’s electoral symbol in all unions and municipalities of Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency, as well as in Bogura-7.

On the second day of the tour, Friday, Tarique Rahman will visit Pirganj in Rangpur in the afternoon to pay respects at the grave of Abu Sayed, who was killed during the July uprising. He will then address an election rally at 4:30pm at the Collectorate Eidgah ground in Rangpur city.

Several preparatory meetings have already been held by the district and metropolitan units of BNP ahead of his Rangpur visit. After concluding the programme, he will return to Bogura in the evening and stay there overnight.

On the final day, Saturday, Tarique Rahman will address two election rallies in Sirajganj—one at 2:00pm at the BSCIC Industrial Park and another at 4:00pm at the Darun Charjana bypass area along the Dhaka–Tangail highway—before heading back to Dhaka.
